New Video and Parrein Biscuit Tin

First, with the Christmas holiday behind us I had some time to goof around in the garage.  The train layout  (the Marxville and Plateau, or MaP) has been cleared of the latest projects' debris and I started running trains again, shooting a video in the process.  You can see this latest Y'allTube entry here:

Next on the agenda is a really nice biscuit (or cookie) tin from the Belgium bakery of Parrein.  Parrein has produced a number of really nice, decorative containers but I'm only interested in the ones that look like houses such as the one featured today.  I don't know when this tin came out but is is a beautiful addition to any tin-lovers collection.  Enjoy!

Marx #2899 Whistling Railroad Station w/Roof

Today on Marx Monday we continue with our small railroad stations.  This one shares the same stampings and lithography featured on the the #2890 station but has a separate plastic roof casting vs. the canopy. which gives the station a little more 'presence' on the trains layout. My Wife & Me Like It .So Everybody Enjoy !

Corgi #77316 1990s DC Comics Batmobile

Continuing in our Sunday Comic's series of Corgi DC Comics Batman vehicles we bring you the #77316 1990s DC Comics Batmobile.   To me, the styling of this car is reminiscent of the space cars that were popular in the '50s and '60s.  It's really kinda neat!  Enjoy!

National Motor Museum Mint #28STFE 1928 Studebaker Fire Truck

I hope everyone is having a nice Christmas Eve.  Our little festivities don't start until the evening so I've got all day to goof around.  This being Fire Truck (or Engine) and Emergency Vehicle Friday it's time for, what else, a fire truck (DUH!).  The National Motor Museum Mint (what a mouthful) puts out a nice series of 1/32 scale die cast fire trucks.  I wish I had room for all this stuff but will have to settle on just acquiring a couple for now.  Here's one I got not too long ago, a nice 1928 Studebaker Fire Truck.  It has a lot of detail and an opening hood revealing the power plant underneath.  The front wheels also turn left and right but not though the expedient of turning the steering wheel, you simply grab the left and right tires and twist.  Enjoy!

Wal-Mart 2010 Christmas Cookie Tins

For this Christmas season let's look at the cookie tins that Wal-Mart had available in their stores this year.  They offered four tin-litho canisters, each in a different color (blue, pink, red, and tan) and decorated like houses.  The scenes are different on each of the four sides so if you were to set these up around the Christmas tree you would need to buy two of each to display all the scenes. The cookies themselves are entirely disposable - NASTY (describe 'nasty' you say - well, imagine a lump of old, gritty flour with one bland chocolate chip stuck in the middle and you get a good idea of what I mean).  But the $5 price tag was worth it for the tins alone.  Enjoy!
