Marx XF-92 Convair Dart

Now here's a cool plane from Marx, the XF-92 Convair Dart, the world's first delta winged jet. While the XF-92 was purely an experimental aircraft it did lead aircraft designers to adopt the delta wing design on planes like the F-102 Delta Dagger, F-106 Delta Dart, and B-58 Hustler. The XF-92 first flew in 1948 and testing lasted until 1953. Our Marx version is hard plastic and measures 7 1/2" (19.1cm) L x 5 1/4" (13.3cm) wingspan x 2 5/8" (6.7cm) H. There is a spring-loaded missile firing mechanism on each wing and the plane comes with four missiles each measuring 2 1/4" (5.7cm) L. It has three wheels which are detachable. The real aircraft was simply a test bed aircraft design and not fitted with missiles but Marx liked to make airplanes which were on the cutting edge of technology and which had play value and this one certainly follows that philosophy. Enjoy!
