2013_11_06 Waxing Crescent Beaver Moon

Here's a couple of shots of last nights crescent moon. It rises now about late morning/early afternoon so we don't have to get up at an awful hour of the night just to view it. In November the Moon is referred to as the Beaver Moon.

(Taken with the Canon SX500)

The large circular crater seen in the northern hemisphere is the lunar 'sea' Mare Crisium, the result of an asteroid strike 4 billion years ago.

Bettina took the following two shots with the Canon. She's having a heck of a time getting used to the different settings but it'll all work out in the end - keep at it Schatz!

Here she got some cool gold-tone pics
