Marx F2H2 Banshee - Large Blue SP

The McDonnell F2H Banshee was a carrier based Navy fighter which saw service from 1948 - 1961. It was also used by the Marines and was one of the primary fighter planes used by America during the Korean War.

While most of my collection is USAF planes I do have a smattering of Navy, Marine, and Army aircraft. This was one of my early purchases and I just thought it was a cool addition to the 'Nifty '50s fleet that was beginning to build up out in The Cave. It has a 'hard' soft plastic body. Huh? Yeah, it's not totally soft and 'bendy' but is somewhat pliable and is definitely not hard polystyrene plastic. Below the fuselage is one of Marx's big, kinda clunky friction motors of the '50s - a big improvement over their spring wound mechanisms of the '20s and '30s but still a ways off from the lighter, smaller friction motors so common in today's toys. It measures 7 5/8" (19.36cm) L x 8 1/4" (20.95cm) W x 2 1/2" (6.35cm) H which is about twice the size of their smaller plastic Banshee (which doesn't have a friction motor). Enjoy!
