Oscar Mayer Wiener Whistle v.1

I would be remiss in posting a later version Oscar Mayer Weinie Whistle without also posting the original. Here's the Wienie Whistle I remember as a kid and I also managed to find this little blurb on the Web:

"In 1952, Carl Mayer dreamed up the Wiener whistle as a promotional giveaway. Shaped like an Oscar Mayer Weiner, it could be played like a real musical instrument. At first, Wiener whistles were handed out by company spokespeople during Wiener mobile appearances. In 1958, the whistles were packaged with Oscar Mayer Wieners, and in 1964, they were a sell-out success at the New York World's Fair, dispensed in vending machines for two cents".

The whistle's measure about 2" (5.8cm) long. I have seen some with a white band around the middle (simple discoloration or an actual color difference?) but the vast majority were yellow. As I had gotten my original wienie whistle from a guest appearance by Little Oscar at a Scout function I'm assuming it was pre-1958, which 'feels' right. Today's sample is of course a later day purchase of a 'vintage' toy - Lord I feel old :-)  Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
